A Deeper Look into the Bruins' Gridiron Warriors

Preseason Hype and High Expectations

The 2023 UCLA Bruins football roster is now official, and the excitement surrounding the upcoming season is palpable. The Bruins are coming off a 9-4 campaign and are eager to make noise in the Pac-12 Conference once again. With a wealth of experience and talent returning, expectations are high for head coach Chip Kelly and his squad.

The offense is led by junior quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who threw for over 3,400 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2022. He will have a plethora of weapons to work with, including senior wide receiver Kazmeir Allen, who led the team with 794 receiving yards last season. The running game will be anchored by senior Zach Charbonnet, who rushed for 1,350 yards and 14 touchdowns a year ago.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bruins return several key players, including senior linebacker Laiatu Latu, who led the team with 84 tackles in 2022. The secondary is expected to be a strength, with senior safety Stephan Blaylock Jr. and junior cornerback Jay Shaw leading the charge.

The Bruins open their season on August 26th against San Diego State at the Rose Bowl. They will then face a tough non-conference schedule that includes games against Wisconsin, Stanford, and LSU. The Pac-12 slate is also daunting, with games against Oregon, Utah, and USC on the docket.

With a talented roster and a challenging schedule, the 2023 UCLA Bruins football season is sure to be one to remember. Stay tuned for more updates and coverage as the season approaches.
